To be honest, I got a little freaked out when walking down here on my first night in Marrakech. The streets in the Medina are slow dark and narrow, I felt quite exposed (with no reason, to be be honest). I’ve processed this to be quite “noir” but that’s how the place looked to me.
This crazy, noisy, smelly, noisy, pushy, noisy, snake-charming, noisy, hat-tassle swirling, noisy square in the centre of the Medina in Marrakech invades your senses, personal space, and idea of what market square should be. For me it was best experienced sipping mint tea in one of the cafes that surround the edge of the square.
