I took this last year on a fantastic sunrise jeep ride.

Supreme Court of The United States
Facing the Capitol Building is the Supreme Court, looking powerful under gathering clouds.
Capital Building, Washington, DC
Reflections of the Capital Building. There are some nice reflective tiles outside the building.
Yosemite Valley, Tunnel View
I struggled to get an reasonable dynamic range with this exposure. My processing software (Lightroom) has a new de-haze function and this has helped on the sky. Half Dome is now more visible in the distance and the treatment in shadows in the valley hopefully a little more subtle.
Grand Canyon Sunset
What an incredible place, the Grand Canyon is. I spent a lovely couple of hours watching the sunset over the canyon in the company of around 50 photographers, each hoping to get an original take on this view. I just managed to get a standard postcard image. But I’m happy that I had the opportunity to visit this site place which just fills you with awe.
Reflections in Monument Valley
Early morning in Monument Valley and a perfectly still lake provides a mirror to the sandstone monoliths.
Grand Canyon
Apparently I didn’t get around to posting a picture of the Grand Canyon. What a place!! Awesome doesn’t begin to cover it. It is also about impossible to photograph in any way that conveys the scale of the thing. Here’s one of the million of pictures I took. All of them rather diminishes the canyon by being reduced to 3,000 x 2,000 pixels
Monument Valley sunrise
One of the most special days on our trip through the US last Sept was a pre-dawn guided tour of Monument Valley. We were staying in a tent in the sand dunes that look out on the Mittens, and stumbled out of the tent and to the hotel to meet our guide for the morning. The first stop we made was on the dirt road dropping into park. There had been some rain which served as nice foreground interest for this shot.
Clouds at Bryce Canyon
This is one one of my favourite shots from our US trip. An early morning sunrise shoot at Bryce Canyon and whilst waiting for the hoodoos to light up from the early morning sun, I turned towards the sunrise and saw this wonderful cloud. I hope you like it.
Yellowstone lake at dawn
I came down to the lake from our lodge early in the morning. It was cold. We had had snow the day before and now, as the sun came out, mist was burned off the lake, revealing an old boat house, now a cafe.
